Mayr-Melnhof Holz Paskov
The largest sawmill of the Czech Republic is in the northeast of the country, in the North Moravian Paskov. The factory was put into operation in 2004 and presently processes a sawing volume of 1 m. solid cubic metres softwood, which mainly comes from the surrounding densely wooded region. Close-by is the pulp mill Biocel Paskov, to which the by-product wood chips is transported via belt conveyor for processing. Other by-products of the sawmill (shavings and planing chips) are processed in the pellet plant Leitinger Bio Pellets Paskov, a 50-50% joint venture of Mayr-Melnhof Holz and Holzindustrie Leitinger.
The thermal energy required at the location to dry wood and shavings is generated in the company’s own bark incineration plant.
The local trading company WOOD Paskov is responsible for the acquisition of logs. The key export markets of the sawn spruce are Western Europe, Japan and the regional markets.
