Leisure in modern timber construction
A new adventure farm has been created at the Allgäuer Berghof, offering a wide range of leisure activities for guests of all ages. One of the highlights is the modern indoor riding arena. Thanks to the roof, guests can enjoy riding lessons in any weather and at any time of year in the 800m² riding arena.
Mayr-Melnhof Holz Reuthe supplied PEFC-certified monopitch roof trusses for the roof structure of the new indoor riding arena.

The new adventure centre at the Allgäuer Berghof has created a place where nature, leisure, exercise and equestrian sports come together in a unique way. The modern indoor riding arena is an architectural highlight, built using timber construction: not only does it provide ideal conditions for equestrian sports, but it also serves as a lively meeting place for guests of all ages — set amidst the impressive Allgäu mountain panorama.
Spanning 800 m², the indoor arena provides space for riding lessons and training sessions all year round. In winter, part of the facility is transformed into an ice rink, adding yet another attraction to the range of leisure activities on offer. Its flexible use impressively demonstrates how modern timber architecture combines functionality and innovation.
The concept is supported by an energy system combining geothermal and photovoltaic technology. Wood is the defining design element and lends the building a warm ambience.
Mayr-Melnhof Holz Reuthe supplied 26 glulam pitched-roof trusses for the project, with a total volume of 122 m³. These form the load-bearing backbone of the structure and define the open architecture of the riding hall.
