Presentation of the 1st Austrian State Prize for Timber Construction
We think this is fantastic: the 1st Austrian State Prize for Timber Construction was launched on 28 May. The prize puts Austrian timber buildings in the spotlight, honouring those that exemplify the combination of high architectural and spatial planning standards with the resource-efficient and innovative use of timber as a building material.
The State Prize for Timber Construction was established by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management in cooperation with proHolz Austria. It is funded by the Austrian Forest Fund and will be awarded every four years from now on.
Three main prizes and two commendations were awarded this year.
“With the Austrian State Prize for Timber Construction, we are sending a clear signal in favour of climate-friendly, innovative and future-oriented building. Timber construction also strengthens sustainable economic growth, local jobs and regional value creation,” said Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig at the presentation of the first Austrian State Prize for Timber Construction.
“With the State Prize, timber construction is getting the big stage it deserves! More than 440,000 jobs in Austria are directly linked to the timber industry, thereby also strengthening the regions,” added proHolz Chairman Richard Stralz.
We congratulate all the winners and all those honoured – a great achievement, keep up the good work.
